10 Reasons NOT to Move to Bozeman

It seems like everyone and their brother is moving to Bozeman. If you know someone considering a move to Bozeman, you better make sure they know what to expect.

Winter Lasts for Nine Months

That’s right. It gets cold enough to freeze boiling water in the middle of the air during the winter. In the summer, it rarely gets above 90 degrees and it’s hard to decide what river, lake, or reservoir to beat the heat in because there’s so many to choose from.

Too Many Young People

Bozeman is home to Montana State University. The median age in Bozeman is 27.9 years. If you’re looking for a quiet place to settle down, you better keep looking. People in Bozeman like to have fun and be outdoors as much as possible.

It Only Takes Five Minutes to Get Out of Town

If you need to get away, it doesn’t take long if you live in Bozeman. It is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lakes. Bears are everywhere. They even wander into Bozeman High School every now and then.

You’ll Never be Able to Pick a Favorite Spot for Breakfast

Bozeman has way too many great breakfast restaurants. From old fashioned to modern, the breakfast choices are plenty. If you move to Bozeman, you’ll have a really hard time deciding what place to go for breakfast because they are all so good.

You Might Have to Learn to Ski or Snowboard

Since the winters are so long, you’ll need to find a way to stay active. Bridger Bowl is a 30-minute drive from Bozeman in the winter. You can also drive a little further and go to Big Sky. It’s the largest ski resort in the lower 48. Who knows, you might even run into Tom Brady while going down the mountain.

You’ll Become a Beer Connoisseur

Breweries are like Starbucks in Bozeman. There’s practically one on every corner. If you’re looking to wet your whistle on a hot summer day, you may have a hard time deciding what brewery to go to. Too many options!

You’ll Have to Explore New Things

Montana is a really big state. In fact, it’s the 4th largest in the country. There are endless opportunities to hit the road and explore all of the beauty that Montana has to offer. Hope you have an adventurous spirit.

If you move to Bozeman, you might see bears, elk, deer, moose, antelope, mountain goats, Bighorn Sheep, bald eagles, and much more. If you go hiking, you have to take bear spray because there’s so many grizzly bears. After all, we’re pretty much in the mountains. We just share the area with the animals.

Fly Fishing

It’s Hard to Decide Where to Go Fishing

Montana is home to numerous rivers and lakes. If you’re looking for a great place to go fishing, you’ll have a hard time deciding where to go since the fishing in Montana is so awesome. The Yellowstone, Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson rivers are all less than an hour from Bozeman.

There’s always something going on downtown. They actually close off Main Street for Music on Main every Thursday during the summer. There are a lot of great shopping and restaurants downtown as well.
