What started out as a celebration, ended poorly last night in outside of Los Angeles.  Between 8,000 and 10,000 people were in the crowd waiting for the annual firework show in a Simi Valley Park.  Just as the fireworks started, the platform holding the pyrotechnics gave out, sending the exploding fireworks into the crowd.  28 were injured, and other were fleeing from the park grounds.

According to Yahoo - Four people were listed in serious condition, but their injuries were not life-threatening. Another 16 were taken to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries. The remainder were treated at the park where emergency crew, already on hand as a safety precaution, set up a triage area.
