    Missouri Headwaters State Park

    Camp where Lewis and Clark camped way back in 1805. This park is located at the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin rivers. Take I-90 west to Three Forks and follow the signs. This park features outdoor interpretive signs, picnic spots, short hiking trails, a small campground. You can even camp out in a tepee.

    Bannack State Park

    Bannack State Park is a National Historic Landmark and the sight on Montana's first major gold discovery in 1862.

    Take I-15 south of Dillon to exit 59 (Highway 278 exit). Drive west on Highway 278 for 18 miles. Turn south onto the Bannack Road and travel four miles. Park entrance road will be on the left.

    Lost Creek State Park

    This park has 25 campsites, and is located on the southern end of the Deerlodge National Forest near Anaconda.

    To get there, head 1.5 miles east of Anaconda on Montana Highway 1. Take a left on Secondary 273 for 2 miles, then 6 miles west.

    Black Sandy State Park

    This park is near Helena and has 34 campsites; 29 have electricity. The campground provides access to boating, swimming, and fishing and other aquatic activities.

    To get there, head 7 miles north of Helena on I-15, turn right on Secondary 453 for 4 miles, and then left on Country Road for 3 miles and you're there.

    Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

    This is Montana's first state park. It features some of the most highly decorated limestone caverns in the Northwest. The park has 39 campsites; 10 have electricity.

    To get there, take I-90 west to Three Forks. Head 19 miles west on Montana Hwy 2 and you're there.
