2016 is almost over! Hallelujah! With everything that’s happened in the last 12 months, we can’t wait to rip the last page of our 2016 Spider-Man wall calendar and hang up our 2017 Spider-Man wall calendar.
Jena Malone never got to make her big screen debut in the DC Cinematic Universe. Her mysterious character was cut from the theatrical version of Zack Snyder‘s ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ but now we have the very first look at her.
After a winter that felt like it would never end (we’re still not entirely sure it ever did end), summer is finally here! OK, well the summer movie season is here anyway and with it comes sequels, reboots, remakes, prequels, adaptations, spinoffs and, if you look hard enough, some original movies too...
This summer, after a 27 year hiatus, Ghostbusters is returning to the big screen with the Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig led reboot. Also this summer, after a 15-year hiatus, Ghostbusters is returning to store shelves in the form of the classic 80s juice drink Hi-C Ecto Cooler...
The best part of each new month is the stuff that gets added to Netflix. The worst part of each new month is the stuff that gets taken from Netflix. And this month’s list of expiring titles is actually pretty extensive; there’s a Ridley Scott double bill (Black Hawk Down and the theatrical cut of Blade Runner), Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (Bogus!), the terrific Polish drama Ida, and the surreal horror flick Escape From Tomorrow, which was shot on the grounds of Walt Disney World without the company’s permission.
The short version: There’s lots of new stuff coming to Netflix this May, including the returns of Netflix Originals Bloodline and Grace and Frankie. The second Adam Sandler Netflix movie arrives (that’s The Do-Over, with David Spade), and on the not-made-by-Netflix side of things you’ve got the recent movie version of Goosebumps with Jack Black (which was actually pretty great), Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief, and the powerful satire Pleasantville.
Whether you were a fan of Batman vs. Superman or not, we can all agree that The LEGO Batman Movie looks pretty amazing. Now there are Batman movies for fans of all tastes. It’s been several years since Muggles had any major new Harry Potter content to enjoy, but after a brief dry period, J.K. Rowling’s world of magic is on the verge of a major comeback. (And just in time; I was beginning to regret this lightning bolt tattoo I got on my forehead.) Potter himself returns in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a two-part West End stage play based on a story by Rowling, and the HPCU (that’s “Harry Potter Cinematic Universe,” y’all, c’mon) returns to big screens this fall with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a prequel to the main Potter franchises based on another book by Rowling.
Last night the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers in convincing fashion in Super Bowl 50 as Peyton Manning will likely retire with his 200th win and now a two-time Super Bowl winner. But more importantly THERE WERE MOVIE TRAILERS. Lots of them. While we covered them individually last night, we’re going to go through each one this morning and, in the spirit of the Super Bowl, see who was the best.
