If you get a phone call from someone asking for money for Search and Rescue, don’t believe it.

That’s the word from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, a company may be soliciting funds over the phone that they say are for Search and Rescue.

“Gallatin County SAR does not and will not ever solicit money from the public over the phone,” according to the Gallatin Media Center news release.

The release adds that there is no need to report the calls to law enforcement, because the company “uses clever language to skirt the law and are not technically in violation of any statute.”
