On August 16, 2018, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Bozeman police officers responded to the area of the 1000 block of West Oak Street for the report of a sexual assault that had occurred.

The victim indicated an unknown male suspect placed his arm around her shoulders and subsequently "groped her in a sexual manner."

The victim was apparently able to force the suspect away, he was last seen fleeing the area, on foot.

Officers immediately responded and initiated a comprehensive search of the area. However, the suspect has not been located.

The suspect is described as a 40 or 50-year-old Caucasian male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with short hair.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a blue t-shirt, and unknown color baggie shorts that extended past the knee.

The Bozeman Police Department indicates that no persons were injured during the assault and this appears to be an isolated incident.

The Bozeman Police Department encourages all citizens to walk or travel in groups, avoid distractions that decrease your awareness level (i.e. talking on a cell phone or wearing headphones) and to immediately report all suspicious activity to 911.
