According to the Bozeman Police Department, a resident of southeast Bozeman was shot in the early morning hours of Sunday.

A press release issued on Monday afternoon indicates that the victim of the shooting was a 19 year old male, who was at his residence sleeping at the time. The victim reported to police that he did not see who shot him in the legs once with a .223 round.

After investigating, Bozeman Police identified Chad C. Jackson, 20, as a suspect in the case. Jackson had been at the the victim's residence earlier in the evening when the two had a verbal altercation.

Officers were initially unable to find Jackson and placed an "attempt to locate" to law enforcement agencies in surrounding jurisdictions requesting assistance. At approximately 4:45 a.m. on June 11, 2018, the Rexburg Police Department located and arrested Jackson without incident. He is being charged and held in jail on Assault with Weapon.

A second Bozeman male, Hunter S. Cruz, 19, is also charged with felony Obstructing Justice in connection to the case for assisting Jackson. Cruz is being held in jail on this charge.

The victim did require surgery on his injuries and is recovering at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. The Bozeman Police are considering this an isolated incident and believe there is no further danger to the public related to these arrests.
