Every year, Google holds an annual "Doodle 4 Google" contest, in which they ask students (from kindergarten through grade 12) to submit drawings based on a specific theme. This year's theme was "My Best Day Ever," and it's hard to imagine one more deserving of that title than this.

Jason Mecier is a huge Lindsay Lohan fan. So huge, in fact, that he created a portrait of the troubled starlet out of trash. The art piece took over 50 hours to make and is constructed entirely of recycled materials, unloved objects and garbage -- all inspired by La Lohan herself.

Wethinks we smell a metaphor in there somewhere.

A couple weeks ago, JCPenney found itself in serious and very public hot water when it was discovered the retailer was selling a t-shirt that read “I’m too pretty to do homework” to little girls.

JCPenney pulled the shirt from its site, but now it looks like Forever 21 is filling the void with a shirt that announces the female wearer is “allergic to algebra,” which critics say perpetuates the stereotype that women are bad at math.

When the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, the surrounding streets were enshrouded in plumes of smoke and massive clouds of dust.

Artist Xu Bing collected much of this dust and ten years later has used it as material for an installation called Where Does the Dust Collect? Blowing the dust onto the floor of an exhibition space with a leaf blower, he then stenciled a zen poem into it.

Scott Weaver has spent the last 35 years building a highly-detailed tower replica of San Francisco using only toothpicks. And it that wasn’t impressive (or insane) enough, his tower allows ping pong balls to take a half-dozen differently routed tours throughout San Francisco’s neighborhoods and famous landmarks.

If Andy Warhol were alive today, how would he react to modern culture? The iconic artist, who died in 1987 at age 58, would probably flip for internet microcelebrities on sites like YouTube, which affirms his “15 minutes of fame” theory.

To commemorate Warhol’s 83rd birthday this past Saturday, artist Edgar Askelovic created a sculpture that imagines what he would have looked like had he lived to see 2011.
