While most of us spent the Fourth of July showing off our backstroke in the pool and grillin’ burgers and dogs, supermodel and ‘Project Runway’ host Heidi Klum was laying out on the beach knockin’ back some brews. It was then she gave the world a July 4th gift: a tweeted photo of her new bikini body.
The legend of America’s birth is only 236 years old. However, in that short amount of time, a number of legends that would normally take centuries to grow and multiply in any other civilization have sprung up.
The sun is out, your friends are over and the kids are splashing around in the pool. Ah yes, it’s summertime, and you’re just dying to break out your grill or smoker and throw an amazing barbeque party in your backyard, at the beach, or wherever you happen to be.
Montana State Fire Marshal, Allen Lorenz, is asking all Montanans to help prevent forest fires this 4th of July by not lighting any fireworks. Is this something you can do? While many of us will inevitably buy fireworks to celebrate, I think we can all agree that we don’t want to start any more fires. That’s why I reached out to the firework distributors to ask what they are doing to help prevent fires from starting.
For all the industries that have been shipped overseas, America is still the entertainment capital of the world. And what better way to celebrate our great nation than with its greatest exports?

Forget about the dawn's early light, this Fourth of July is all about the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air and maybe even a couple of spiders. Those are the ones that, well, look kind of like a spider, anyway.

I recently posted about my simple requests for a happy July 4th but forgot to mention the importantance of reflecting this time of year. This dawned on me last night while watching Saving Private Ryan. Every year sometime between Memorial Day and July 4th I like to watch a good American war flick. I know a movie could never truly give a guy like me, who has never officially served our country, an insight into what that’s like but it helps me remember why I have the rights and freedoms I do.
June 29, 2011 Fourth Of July is one of those holidays that has just not been the same since I left home. I used to spend the 4th with my cousins at the farm - which is on the lake. I have such fond memories of my cousin shooting bottle rockets at chickens - running after those parachute fireworks and getting them, even if they were in the lake - scaring animals - swimming and playing in the water... I miss these times A LOT.
