Montana is the 4th largest state in the U.S., but it still remains one of the least populated. In fact, there are more cows than people in Montana.

A few nights ago, I decided to watch the movie Tommy Boy starring Chris Farley. There's a hilarious scene in the movie where Tommy shows his new stepbrother Paul (Rob Lowe) around town to show him a good time. One of the things that they do in the movie is "cow tipping." Tommy attempts to show Paul how it's done and falls face-first into the mud and cow manure.

If you need a good laugh, you can watch the clip below.

After watching the movie, I started to think about why more people don't go cow-tipping in Montana. After all, there are definitely enough cows.

What is Cow Tipping?

Cow tipping is an activity in which people attempt to knock over a sleeping cow over. Some people say that cow tipping is an urban legend, and isn't physically possible.

To be clear, I'm not encouraging anyone to go cow-tipping. It's a really bad idea for a lot of reasons. First, Montana is home to the largest number of gun owners in the country. The last thing you want to do is get caught trespassing on private property trying to tip over a cow. It's a quick way to get shot or even worse, killed. Montanans don't take kindly to trespassers.

You could also face legal trouble as well. Trespassing comes with a hefty fine and possibly jail time. As you can clearly see in the video above, cow-tipping usually doesn't end well either. In addition to getting shot at, you'll smell like cow poop.
