Thank you so much to Krogstad Photography for providing us these pictures!  Jeff took these photos yesterday just hours after the Emigrant Peak fire was reported.

According to the official press release -

Thunderstorms that rolled through the area on Wednesday afternoon ignited a fire south of Emigrant Peak in the Paradise Valley south of Livingston, MT.  Firefighters responded to the fire at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 21st.  As of 2:30 Sunday afternoon, the fire was approximately 5 acres.  At 4:30 p.m., fire activity increased significantly and the fire size increased to approximately 30 acres by 7:00 p.m.  As the sun went down, fire activity again decreased and remained quiet for the remainder of the night.

One 20-person Type 1 hotshot crew, 2 helicopters, and miscellaneous overhead personnel have been ordered and should arrive on the fire today.    Limited access, very steep and rocky terrain, heavy fuels, rolling burning debris, and the warm and weather are safety concerns for fighting this fire.  Firefighter and public safety are the top priority for this fire.
