In just a little over two months, your life could be completely different. What is the first thing you would change if you were confident you could do it? Scientists have found that, in only 66 days, we can change our lives. Here's how:

You want to identify why you do what you do. Let's look at habits. Maybe it's eating fast food (me), maybe it's not working out or maybe it's an addiction.

According to Charles Duhigg, author of "The Power of Habit," habits aren't born, they're created. They start with a psychological pattern called a "habit loop". A "habit loop" is a 3-step process.

  1. The trigger that tells your brain to allow a certain behavior to unfold.
  2. The behavior itself or the routine that has been created.
  3. The reward. This is the thing your brain likes and what helps your brain remember to do in the future.

If you're looking to make changes in your life, it has been suggested that you do just one thing at a time. It's hard enough to change one habit. What habit would you like to break or replace with a better "habit"?

Here is how it is all broken down by days:

DAYS 1-22: BE OBNOXIOUS

Tell anyone and everyone what you intend to do. Be open and vocal about it. This will hold you accountable and allow others to do the same.

DAYS 22-44: SELF-ANALYZE

Welcome to soul-searching. Ask yourself why you are doing this, what the change is bringing, etc. Figure out what is making you continue to reach this goal.

DAYS 44-66: FIND THE LIGHT

This is the hardest "phase". You are in a groove but it's easy to break. The idea of changing your habit isn't as exciting and it's very simple to go back to your old ways. Stay strong and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel.

DAYS 66 +: TREAT YOURSELF

Celebrate and mark this moment as your time of change. Put it out there (which will also tell you internally) that you have done it! Congratulations!
