Fishing the Madison River in spring can be absolute heaven. Crazy weather can make it iffy on what to use, but sometimes it's as easy as throwing out a line without much thought.

VIMEO user fishalong braved having a GoPro strapped to his head to catch some up close and personal video of his day on the Madison.

For those who aren't super familiar with the Madison: (wikipedia)

The Madison River, from Madison Junction in Yellowstone to Three Forks, is a fly fishing mecca for serious anglers.

It is classified as a blue ribbon fishery in Montana and is one of the most productive streams in Montana for brown trout, rainbow trout and mountain whitefish.

Many of us grew up learning the fish on the Madison, whether in the Beartrap or further south as it exits Quake Lake near the Idaho border.

Of course it all depends on WHERE you're going to fish - but if you need some information about the basics of spring hatches, look here!
