A couple of weeks ago, my fellow engaged friend Amy sent me a link to some “engagement photos gone wrong.”  Since then, I have been showing friends, coworkers, my fiance – pretty much anyone I can get to at their computer.  It’s provided a TON of laughs.  So I got to thinking, why don’t we open this up to the listeners to submit their photos?  Now, these don’t need to be professional photos.  They can be real, staged, animated, photoshop’d – whatever your brain can come up with.  This is meant to be funny.

Yesterday afternoon (April 24th) a woman led the Police on a high-speed car chase from a Bank, through Four Corners, Into the Gallatin Canyon and then back to Four Corners before she was finally stopped by crashing into the ditch after running over stop sticks laid in the road at the intersection of Gooch Hill and Huffine Lane.

27 year-old Brandi Hodgin of Billings is charged with two counts of criminal endangerment, one count of forgery and one count of theft by possession of stolen property.  She will be in court this morning to answer to the charges.

The incident started early Wednesday, with the report of a checkbook being stolen.  Hodgin then allegedly wrote checks from the stolen account, and a bank notified authorities. When officers arrived at the bank to investigate, the suspect fled the scene which led to the car chase.

Surveillance camera stills have been released of the suspects in the Boston bombing that occurred on Monday, April 15th. See the photos inside. The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals but asks to not approach them.

The FBI has named the suspects suspect 1 and suspect 2. Suspect 1 is seen in a BLACK hat, and suspect 2 is seen in a WHITE hat. Suspect 2 was seen dropping a bag before the bomb at the second bomb site exploded.

Last night, I trusted the fine work of my close friend Jess as she cut 10 inches off my hair for Locks of Love. Locks of Love “is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.”  Many of them being Cancer patients, something that is very close to my heart.  My aunt is a cancer survivor, and I spend many hours raising money for  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This is the second time I have taken this leap of faith, and I must say it’s much easier to do during Round 2.  I also have to say that I was sick of my long hair, so it wasn’t too big of a decision to do it.  BUT – I officially challenge you to join me if you can, and donate to this great cause.  It doesn’t cost anything more than a haircut, and Locks of Love provides are custom-made wigs for each child’s head that would normally cost between $3,500 to $6,000.

Below are fun photos of the ‘Frosting’ trend that swept Missoula by storm. The photos were to poke fun on the amount of snow that was falling. I hope the tradition continues this year!

Despite the fact that they are solo pop divas with outrageous fashion senses and the uncanny ability to craft hooky songs, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are rarely compared.

That should change now that Perry’s Vogue Italia photo spread for the July issue has landed, where she goes Gaga. The style, imaging and wardrobe are very Gaga-esque, with the mod hair and geometric outfits.

Upon first view, you might ask, “Who’s that girl?” Which is, mind you, the name of a Madonna song and film, but we’re not going there at this moment. Perry is topped by a mod, rounded and severe, white-hot bob, with extreme winged black eyeliner. These are not looks that we see her sport often. But on Gaga? This would be par for the course.

It’s futuristic, with Perry rocking a high leather neck collar, that looks like those used in cultures that practice binding. Our favorite is the pic of her with the black coat and funky, chunky, ankle strap heels. The bent shape is so chic.

In the shot where she’s wearing a ’60s style, fluffy pink coat with massive sunnies, Perry is fierce. The shot of her crawling and the one where she is in the long white robe? That’s Gaga-esque.

The structured bob is very Gaga on the March 2011 cover of Vogue. The color palette is also reminiscent of Gaga’s January 2012 ELLE UK covers. The extreme eyeliner, black mixed with white, is a Gaga signature, which she is rocking on the Born This Way Ball tour.

It appears that Perry is inspired by Gaga’s looks here. It’s very mod, mixed with futuristic tones. Some might say there is some level of dominatrix in the shots.

We’d like to add that Perry is everywhere as she promotes ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me,’ her film. She just appeared on the cover of L’Uomo Vogue (which is the Italian men’s version), showing off her matador side, and hit the late night talk show circuit to promote the flick.

Each year I look forward to the Montana State University Graphic Design Thesis Show. One reason is because I am an alumni of the MSU Design program but an even bigger draw for me is the truely awesome work the students produce year after year. Each student is given a semester to create a theoretical or actual business and present a final design project that would work in the real world. Each year I leave the show inspired and intrigued by the talent at MSU.

Students tackled design projects for mobile coffee shops, video game inspired apparel, iPad apps, Japanese language flashcards and tons more. In the gallery above you can see all of the projects and below I let you know what my favorites of the show are.

I really enjoyed the design your own monster project by Emily Newhouse (sorry I don’t remember the exact name of it.) The bright colors and playfulness immediately drew me into the project. Not only did Emily bring these creatures to life with actual stuffed figures, but each was classified with a clever personality based on his/her physical traits. Emily even had a website that allowed you to design your creature the way you wanted. The presentation of her piece was perfect for the playfulness of her topic. I would imagine the display of the product being nearly identical if it were in a large mall somewhere in America. It’s like Build A Bear for the alternative kids/adults!

Another of my favorite projects at the show, which has already evolved into a full fledged business, was Rockhart. Created by Andrew Lockhart, Rockhart is a retro video game inspired apparel company. The products on display featured a T-Shirt with the graphic of a severed arm clutching an NES controller and a T-Shirt with the iconic orange Duck Hunt gun in a beautifully illustrated style. The main logo for the company is an 8-bit rock fist which fits the brand brilliantly. I really have nothing bad to say about this project/company. The installation of the project also included a video screen constructed inside of an old pinball machine which had a slide show of pictures controlled by the flipper buttons of the pinball machine. Those are just a couple of my favorites. There are so many more to check out and view at the show I couldn’t talk about here. Be sure to stop by today because it’s the last day of the exhibit! Tonight there will be a huge closing reception.

The closing reception for the show which draws hundreds of attendees is tonight May 4th from 7pm to 9pm at the Helen E. Copeland Gallery in Haynes Hall at MSU. Stop by, eat some grub, chat with the designers and leave inspired.

Angry, drunken fans ran wild Wednesday night after the Vancouver Canucks‘ 4-0 loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, setting cars and garbage cans ablaze, smashing windows, showering giant TV screens with beer bottles and dancing atop overturned vehicles.

Later, looters smashed windows and ran inside department stores.

”We have a small number of hooligans on the streets of Vancouver causing problems,” Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson said. ”It’s absolutely disgraceful and shameful and by no means represents the city of Vancouver. … We have had an extraordinary run in the playoff, great celebration. What’s happened tonight is despicable.”

Police said they had reports of four stabbings, though spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness said she couldn’t confirm them.

Officers from around the region flooded into downtown, and Robertson said things were getting under control, but the images and atmosphere that persisted late into the night suggested otherwise.

It took about four hours before downtown quieted again.

While Robertson said there had been no fatalities, ambulances appeared to be having trouble getting inside the zone to help the injured. TV images showed at least one woman mopping blood from her forehead.

”You don’t ever hope for a situation like this,” McGuinness said. ”You celebrate the good times and you prepare for the bad times and that’s exactly what we’ve done. Unfortunately, the tables have turned tonight. … We will have to sit down and evaluate exactly what happened here. It’s going to be a black mark for a very, very long time.”

At a Bay store, looters were seen grabbing T-shirts and anything else they could get their hands on. Young women were seen escaping with MAC cosmetics, with one carrying out part of a mannequin. The landmark building was filling with smoke as people, their faces covered in bandannas, continued the violence.

Where were you on 3/5/9 when our world came to a sudden stop with a massive explosion in the heart of downtown Bozeman.  Taking out local favorites including the Rockin R Bar, Starky’s Deli, Lilly Lu’s, The Montana Trails Gallery,  Rocky Mountain Toy Company, Boodles and the Rocky Mountain Rug Gallery – and killing one of our own.  What do you remember about that day?

It could be Hurley’s performance that kicks off the show as she is starring in the pilot which will need to see a good response from the audience before NBC turns it into a full series. Not sure about you but we can’t wait to see Miss Hurley in the Villain role yet again.

Hurley’s deal is not official yet, TV Line reports, as there are still outstanding visa issues. But should it close, Hurley would play Veronica Cale, a scientist and businesswoman with a secret plan. The role was originally written as a one-time guest spot, but it could turn into a recurring part should the project get picked up.
