For as much epic, sword-swinging drama, seething political intrigue and yes, lovely ladies as 'Game of Thrones' brought to the table in its first two seasons, there's no denying that the HBO series' incredible production value ranks as one of the better aspects of the series.  With a mixture of locations shoots and CGI, as well as make-up effects for characters, the network manages to bring George R.R. Martin's creations to life nigh-perfectly.  One of the most hotly anticipated races made their debut in season 2 finale "Valar Morghulis," but how did the design evolve from the concept?

Fans of HBO and George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones' nearly lost their mind during the climactic moments of season 2 finale "Valar Morghulis," which not only introduced some of the most grotesque Wights to date, but also gave a full glimpse at the mysterious, and terrifying White Walkers (named "The Others" in the book).  Walkers had been glimpsed very briefly in the series premiere, though since that introduction the design seemed to have changed somewhat.

Courtesty of WinterIsComing and designer Martin Rezard, we've got a closer look at both the finished product, and some earlier designs for the legendary 'Game of Thrones' race, sure to be featured further in the third season beginning 2013.  Clearly, certain designs like the creatures' gauntness, or typical dress had gone through various design ideas.
