Twenty years has gone by since the release of the Super Mario Bros. movie starring John Leguizamo as Luigi and Bob Hoskins as Mario. I can't believe the movie was made or that it has already been 20 years! In a video released this week, John talks about the experience in retrospect and reveals why Mario's hand was in a pink cast for parts of the movie.

Some interesting facts about the movie from IMDB.com

  • The actor who played Mario, Bob Hoskins, did not realize the movie was based on a videogame until his son told him during the making of the film
  • Bob later stated that the movie was the worst thing he had ever done
  • Kevin Costner and Arnold Schwartzenegger turned down playing King Koopa
  • Super Mario Bros. was the first Hollywood feature film based solely on a video game
