Kids Don’t Want Video Games Anymore, They Want iPads

A report conducted by nielsen shows kids from the age of 6-12 overwhelmingly want an iPad for their next gift. With a retail pride of $399, I would imagine not many of them will be getting it this holiday season. If the price is too steep there are many other options.

Nielsen Report

While the iPad’s least expensive device runs for $329, it’s competitors’ prices go as low as the Google Nexus 7 at $199.

I own an iPad first generation and a Google Nexus phone. I enjoy owning both Android and iOS devices because I can keep up with all the trends. If I can’t do it on my Android phone I can do it on my iPad, if I can’t do it on my iPad I can do it on my Andriod phone. The later seems to happen more often than the former.

That being said, I would say I love both devices equally. It’s their parents that make me upset. Apple tends to restrict me from doing exactly what I want to do with my device. My iPad apps store files in a way that makes it difficult to access them off the iPad. My Android Google Nexus tells me exactly where the files are stored and I can access my storage as if it were an external storage device on my computer (and not be forced to use a program like iTunes.) The iPad does have phenomenal sleekness and a Utopian feel to it, but Google is quickly catching up and has a bit more of a powerful techie feel to it. Any 6- 12 year old would be ecstatic to be able to use any of the devices below. Be sure to load your device with plenty of educational software to make the purchase pay for itself!
