Pete Hanson’s Daily Blog: Look, A Squirrel
I think all too often great, talented, well-meaning people are derailed from making great, productive, wonderful accomplishments by one little thing. Actually it’s lots of little things. And those little things are. Drumroll. Distractions.
And what’s even more disappointing is that either consciously or subconsciously, these great, talented, well-meaning people often spend more time looking for the next great distraction than they do for something that would have been far more exhilarating, productive, or rewarding.
Now I have a short attention span. I took the “What Kind of Dog Are You?” test and the answer came up Golden Retriever. If you’ve ever spent much time with a golden, you know that they can only pay attention until the next ball rolls by, butterfly floats past, or something that sounds like it could be a dog treat hits the floor. That’s me…but I know that about me. I do things to ensure that I am getting the things done each day that will impact my world and produce results. What do you know about you?
Distractions are easy. Fight the urge. Make it a New Year’s resolution. Intent, focus, consistency. Repeat.
Look a squirrel!
