In 20 years, will our kids be saying "Where were you when you got the news Osama was killed"? Who knows. What we do know is that they will be asking "Where were you on September 11th, 2001."

Myself, I was a Sophomore in college so I was asleep. Duh. I woke up to the news via cell phone from a friend (again, Duh) saying get up and turn on the news. The first tour of the World Trade Center had been slammed into by an airplane. Officials were trying to figure out if this was a horrible accident, or something much worse. The whole world then watched in shock as the second plane hit, the third plane crashed into the Pentagon, and the fourth into the field in Pennsylvania. I didn't understand the scope of what I was watching until I showed up at class that day and my Geography professor cancelled class so we could go home "and be with our families on this historic day".

Close to 10 years later we are getting reports that the man who bragged about planning the attacks is not only dead, but his body is in US Custody. This super secret mission had not clued in the media beforehand like in the Saddam Hussein instance. I was getting ready for bed when I got a text that simply read "turn on the NBC news". There without any prior warning was the NBC News saying "Osama Bin Laden Confirmed Dead".

Now, I work in media. Its my job to put in place the "emergency response plan" as laid out by my job, and to get to work. But after that first 5 minutes the thought really set in. Just how many men, women and families around the United States were celebrating instead of sleeping - probably a lot. No matter what side of the political fence you are on, I guarantee you know someone (or possibly many) who have dedicated their lives to this cause. This is the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to them. Tell them today how thankful you are, and how much you appreciate all that they have done for their country!

THANK YOU TO THE TROOPS AND THEIR FAMILIES!!!! WE WOULDN'T BE WHO WE ARE WITHOUT YOU!

What are your thoughts?
