Since school has started, Enterovirus-D68 (EV-D68) has been sending hundreds of children to the hospital. Recently reported in Colorado, we're just waiting for the "mysterious respiratory virus" to hit Montana. Here's what it looks like and steps for prevention (hopefully).
Typically, this virus is starting with children (but can be spread to adults). According to WebMD and Children's Hospital Colorado, the symptoms are that of a severe cold (runny nose, sneezing and cough). After that, comes the wheezing, fever and, in some cases, a body rash.
Adults with asthma or any underlying illnesses are susceptible to the virus.
How to prevent EV-D68:
- Wash your hands (don't fake it by running water over your hands)
- Get your sleep
