Looks like "The Heart Wants What It Wants" is a good indication of what is to come from Selena Gomez.

The singer spoke to Women's Wear Daily to share some info about her upcoming album, promising that it will be indicative of what's she's been through since the release of her last studio album.

Reporters caught up with the former Disney darling outside a recent Louis Vuitton fashion show, where she acknowledged that she hasn't put out much music recently.

“I haven’t released any music in two years, so it’s really going to be me kind of showing my journey in the past two years, and there’s a little darkness in it,” she told WWD.

We hope to hear a healthy mix of tear-soaked ballads (a la "The Heart Wants What it Wants") and dance-floor-ready uptempo tunes like her most recent release, "I Want You To Know," a collaboration with rumored boyfriend Zedd.

Selena has plenty of experience to draw upon artistically — from her emotionally revealing video for the song rumored to have written about Justin Bieber (and the rumored parody of it) to her struggle with depression.

Regardless of the musical direction the new album takes, we're confident that it will be the work of a matured woman. Selena has clearly shed her bubblegum exterior and we're excited to see what she does next.

She also shared that she'll be returning to Atlanta, where she was on location completing The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, to start work on In Dubious Battle. The latter will make the second time she's worked with Spring Breakers co-star James Franco.
