The Emerson Center has a class available for just about everyone, young and old. Their Spring schedule is absolutely packed with options and we've got all the details!

Adult/ Teen Classes:
  • Portrait and Figure Drawing - Wednesdays, April 8 - May 20, 2015
    • 6 - 8:30 PM
    • Instructor - Kevin Heaney
    • $140/ Members, $155/ Non-Members
      • Learn the fundamentals for drawing the human form. This class will explore gesture, contour, proportion, foreshortening, portraits and the human figure. Students use a wide range of drawing mediums including pencil, charcoal ink, maker and conte crayon. Students (aged 18+) enrolled in class will reiceve half off drop-in fees for life drawing sessions on Tuesday nights, starting April 14.
  • Casting Basics: Tuesdays, April 14 - May 26, 2015
    • 6 - 8:30 PM
    •  Instructor - Ella Watson - Emerson exhibiting artist in the Jessie Wilber Gallery during May and June. 
    • $210/ Members, $245/ Non-Members
      • This class is an introduction to casting and mold making. Students will learn how to make molds and cast various objects including casting from life. Multiple casting mediums and materials will be used such as plaster, alginate and even chocolate!
  • Pottery: Beginner - Advanced - Wednesdays, April 15 June 3, 2015
    • 6:30 - 9 PM
    • Instructor - Vanessa Rogers
    • $212/ Members, $250/ Non-members
      • This class offers in-depth instruction on mid-range stoneware and porcelain with hand building, wheel throwing and new surface treatments. This class is suitable for first timers or people who already have a working knowledge of ceramics and want to increase their skill level.
Kids Classes:
  • Kids Printmaking (4 - 7) and (8 - 12) Wednesdays and Thursdays, April 15/ 16 - May 27/28, 2015
    • 4 - 5:30 PM
    • Instructor - Angela Yonke
    • $105/ Members, $125/ Non-Members
      • This class covers multiple printmaking terms and techniques including pates, burnishing, stencils, inks etching, engraving, drypoint, screen-printing, mono prints and wood cuts.
  • Creating with Clay (8 - 12 yrs) Mondays, April 6 - May 18, 2015
    • 4 - 5:30 PM 
    • Instructor - Vanessa Rogers
    • $110/ Members, $135 Non-Members
    • Pro-rated tuition available for late enrollees
      • Enjoy clay? Learn the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel, hand building and slab construction through demonstrations and practice.
