In last month's Bozeman, Montana gardening experiment we started some Sweet Pea seeds indoors. We now have success...and these aren't ordinary Sweet Peas.

These are Electric Blue Container Sweet Peas from Renee's Garden. (They are a great source for funky, heirloom and non-GMO seeds by the way.)

Sweet Peas are pretty tough and can handle a little frost, but I am now so distrustful of our Bozeman frost dates that I'm experimenting with just about EVERYTHING indoors to assure that they mature fully before the FALL frost.

These particular seeds are meant for containers which I hadn't seen before. They'll grow to between 3' to 4' so I'm hopeful a large container with a creative, small trellis will make for a stunning and unusual summer surprise.

So that's the experiment for this week. So far so good....and I'll keep you posted!

UPDATE: As of April 21st, they are still growing indoors AND I've got blooms. It took me a few weeks to find the perfect container for them but they're now ready to head outdoors. Here's what they look like TODAY!
