Johnny Keyser + Heejun Han Move Forward During ‘American Idol’ Hollywood Auditions
It’s Hollywood time.
It’s Hollywood time.
Portland is a pop culture hot bed. From the hilarious series ‘Portlandia’ — which celebrates the indie-dom and coolness of the region and is as far removed from ‘American Idol‘ and its pop sensibilities — to the hipster-friendly nature of the often cloudy and rainy area, Portland is on our radar a bunch. No wonder ‘American Idol’ producers hit the city again this season for the audition phase.
There are ‘American Idol‘ backstories and then there are backstories! We doubt that any of the contestants that have stood on the audition stage through the show’s entire history could lay claim to going through what hopeful Romeo Diahn has been through. He is a true survivor with a feel good story if there ever was one.
Jessica Phillips of Brooklyn, N.Y. has been through a lot in her short life. Her boyfriend, Angelo, of five years suffered a massive stroke and had to be hospitalized for a month and a half. When he finally came to, Phillips said he didn’t know who she was.
The three ‘American Idol‘ judges had little to say about contestant Naomi Gillies on Wednesday night. The Lancaster, Penn. native was that impressive, singing a song Steven Tyler made famous with Aerosmith. While her version of ‘Cryin” wasn’t pitch-perfect, she showed enough range and passion to get through to Hollywood.
Britnee Kellogg knows a thing or two about heartbreak. On tonight’s ‘American Idol,’ the blond bombshell and mother of two told the story of her lyin’, cheatin’, good for nothin’ ex-husband who held her back so he could pursue his own basketball career. (And in Kellogg’s words, “pursue other women,” too).
The ‘American Idol‘ audition round has moved to the Pacific Northwest to the lovely (if cloudy) city of Portland. The first contestant was evidence that you can’t judge a singer by her clothes! Brittany Zika, a golden blonde, tripped when making her way to the mini stage to perform before the judges. She joked that her friends call her “Tripster the Hipster,” and with her thi
‘American Idol‘ has come under fire for essentially seeming like a glorified karaoke contest, but Aspen contestant Jairon Jackson disproved that all by himself. The 19-year-old restaurant host performed an original song for his audition and blew the roof off.
Haley Smith is a true flower child in our face-paced, technology-laden era. During her introduction to the American public, Smith said she was most at peace in nature, but we could see she was really at ease soaking up the limelight during her audition on ‘American Idol.’
Pretty, 17-year-old Shelby Tweten of Mankato, Minn. revealed on her ‘American Idol‘ audition in Aspen, Colo. tonight (Jan. 25) that she has been battling depression since she was in the fourth grade. She was also officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder in March.
Music teacher Jenny Schick described herself as always having “too much energy,” but she had just the right amount to impress the ‘American Idol‘ judges.
In her opening montage, the blond Sterling, Va. native described her disdain for beginners’ recorder classes and revealed her “Hall Pass” list to host Ryan Seacrest. It included Adam Levine, Lady Gaga and … Steven Tyler!
In a new interview, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine blasts ‘American Idol,’ claiming the show discourages gay contestants from being open about their sexuality.
