It turns out that yes, some are from "natural" causes - but the series of wildfires in Helena has been from suspected arson.  Police have 19 year-old Fredrick J. Maw in custody for arson in the Sweats Gulch Complex fires, and is also suspected in the Priest Pass fire and the Spokane Hills Fire.

The Madison County Attorney’s Office filed the charges, and he has plead not guilty in all counts.
