The first person to set foot on the Earth’s moon, Neil Armstrong passed away today (Aug. 25) due to complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures. He was 82.
Sally Ride, the first American woman to go into space, has died. Ride, 61, passed away peacefully at her home in La Jolla, CA. on Monday, July 23 after a 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ernest Borgnine, the iconic movie and television actor, passed away on Sunday.

Beloved producer and television/radio host Dick Clark has died at the age of 82, according to sources at TMZ. Clark reportedly suffered a massive heart attack this morning, April 18, due to complications from an outpatient procedure he underwent at St. John’s hospital in Los Angeles last night.

Former Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi, who’s been in hiding since August when a NATO-backed rebel force seized his headquarters in Tripoli, was killed on Thursday after rebels stormed his hometown of Sirte, where the last remnants of troops loyal to him were hiding. He was 69 years old.
According to media outlets, Libyan officials are announcing the death of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi by wounds suffered when an eight-month-old revolution effort overran his hometown of Sirte.

Cleanup efforts have begun in communities that were devastated by Hurricane Irene over the weekend. Although trucks and supplies from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are en route, access to some areas has been cut off by floodwaters that washed out or damaged roads and bridges.
“Irene was gonna land somewhere. We’re not Manhattan, our small streams quickly became big rivers,” Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin told The Brattleboro (Vt.) Reformer. “We’ve lost churches, homes and historic bridges. But we will rebuild.”
