Vitamins are said to be good for you. According to a new study from the University of Minnesota, however, that may not always be the case.

Researchers reviewed the cases of 38,000 women over a 19-year period and found that those who took supplements had about a 2.4 percent increased risk of death over those who didn’t, which could be related to the compounds supplements contain — compounds that can be toxic in higher amounts and have a detrimental effect on those who use them long-term.

Chris Goodman, the Winehouse family spokesman, released a statement saying, “Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present, but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death. The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”

Nickolas Ashford, who along with his wife Valerie Simpson made up the Motown songwriting team Ashford & Simpson, succumbed to throat cancer Monday at age 70.

The duo penned such classic hits as ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,’ ‘Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing’ and ‘I’m Every Woman,’ and had their music recorded by Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, among others. A man died at the Oakland A's-Texas Rangers game Thursday night in Arlington, Texas when he fell 20 feet over the left field wall while trying to catch a ball.

The victim, identified as Shannon Stone, had reached over a rail to grab a foul ball thrown into the stands by Rangers' star Josh Hamilton in the second inning. Stone, who was in the lower level with his son, tumbled into an area behind a wall near a scoreboard.
