Love to garden and meet others who share your passion? Come to the Bozeman Public Library on Saturday April 1st starting at noon for the 2nd annual Seed Swap. But there's so much more than just a seed swap!
Spring has official begun and Cardinal Climbers starts are doing well in a sunny living room window. Bozeman's never ending struggle of trying to balance a short growing season and starting things too soon inside is a fun challenge for me.
Again this year, I can't resist. Starting a few seeds - some will still, some won't. Basil to be practical and a few flowers just to see what happens. Our true growing season is a long way off but "babying" a few plants is an incredibly effective winter therapy.
I love being outside planting things, maintaining the lawn and enjoying flowers bloom all Spring and Summer. Come Fall, however, it's time to put things to bed and it isn't nearly as much fun. Unless you cheat, every single year.
It's funny how every year is completely different. Some years I have giant sunflowers. This year I have 2 that are no taller than 18 inches. This year had to be kept simple because of gardening time restraints.
Are you scary into Scoville? Crazy for capsaicinoid? Raging for 'reapers? If you love spicy food, enjoy growing your own peppers and want to bond with like minded others, The Pepper Underground group on Facebook is just for you.
This video will not change your life, but it MIGHT take your mind off the daily grind. Every once in a while, appreciating a little bit of nature (with a little bit of technology) can make the day better.
Twinkle Toes seem to do fairly well in the Bozeman area as a perennial bulb and THESE little guys are my new favorite. They bloom early. They weather through snow. They're pretty and they last several weeks.
Spring is a great time to spend with kids learning the basics of gardening. There are several easy-to-grow options that you can start inside for almost instant results. The more results kids see, the more interested they become.
