A proposal to ban all pets sales in San Francisco is being considered by the city’s Board of Supervisors.
According to those who have proposed the ban, the rational behind it is twofold. It would encourage San Franciscans to adopt animals from shelters and rescue organization, and it would put an end to what animal rights activists claim are inhumane conditions in puppy mills and kitten factories.
As Della Reese once said in the 1996 Martin Lawrence classic of the same name, “It’s a thin line between love and hate.” Mackie the Boston Terrier clearly has some strong feeling about being tickled, but whether “Please sir, may I have another?” or “If you touch me again, I’m going to explode” is up for interpretation. In fact, the cat’s stolen over 600 items from around the neighborhood, including stuffed animals, clothing, hats and shoes.
