Yesterday was one ginormous step backwards in this seasons fire situation - with 2 new wildfires burning in Southwest Montana, days before we are expecting winds up to 35 mph.

The Millie Fire you could see from town, and is in the "Squaw Creek" area of the Storm Creek Drainage.  It's currently 500 acres and growing.  Storm Castle Road is closed at the Spire Rock Campground.

The 19 Mile Fire near Whitehall burned over 1000 acres yesterday and is creeping toward I-90.  Some residents have been evacuated, and The Red Cross is providing shelter  at the St. Teresa of Avila Parrish. This church is located at 107 E. 2nd Street in Whitehall.

Officials are concerned about both fires -  due to the upcoming weather including gusty, strong winds.  We will keep you up to date as they release more information!
