Smoking tobacco from a pipe is an old-fashioned pastime that is enjoyed within many cultures to this day. However, forgetting to clean your pipe regularly can leave tobacco tasting dreadful and the buildup of tobacco residue will certainly inhibit your pipe’s performance. You will need to clean the stem and the bowl. To clean the stem, you will probably need a fair amount of pipe cleaners. The pipe cleaner is a long metal wire with soft bristles wrapped around it and are available. Insert a pipe cleaner in to the mouthpiece and push it through until it emerges in the bowl. Repeat this procedure, using a fresh pipe cleaner for each pass, until the pipe cleaner comes out entirely clean. To clean the bowl, first empty any debris by turning it upside down and tapping it. Next, take a pipe reamer and “shave” most of the cake off but not all of it because the cake (a mixture of carbonized ash and tobacco) serves as a protective coating inside the bowl itself.
