• Leighton Meester got all country on us in the debut of her music video Summer Girls, from the film Country Strong starring the Gossip Girl and Gwyneth Paltrow.

• Rascal Flatts bassist Jay DeMarcus welcomed his first child with wife Allison, a daughter named Madeline Leigh.

• In sad news, musician and painter Don Van Vilet, better known as Captain Beefheart died at the age of 69.
