Pete Hanson’s Daily Blog: Why Cherry?
One of the little perks of my medical journey the past seven years has been colonoscopies. Lots of them. (Please try to contain your jealousy!) As the bumper sticker on my truck says, “What’s up your butt? Get screened early & find out.” It’s important stuff. If you take something away from today it should be that there’s no substitute for early cancer detection.
But of course, that’s not what this is about.
No, it’s about a question that has plagued me for several years. It’s short. It’s simple. And if you know (or have a guess) please email me at petehanson@townsquaremedia.com. Ready for the question? Ok, here it is:
Why, when you get a colonoscopy at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, do they make a point of giving you a new cherry Chapstick each time?
Where am I supposed to apply it? Is there something that I didn’t read in the pre-procedure brochure? (I looked at the picture of the colon, and I didn’t see any Chapstick.) Are my lips expected to get uncomfortably dry during the process?
Again, please submit your wisdom to petehanson@townsquaremedia.com. I look for forward to hearing your ideas on the subject.
And why Cherry?
