Two minutes into the second half the Montana State women’s basketball team put the hammer down with a 23-6 run to take a 65-45 lead with 10:30 remaining to cruise to an 83-63 win over Idaho State, Monday night in Worthington Arena.

With the win, Montana State (12-8, 6-0) pushes its current winning streak to ten games, second-best to the 1987-88 squad that rattled off 17 consecutive victories.

“I thought Ausha (Cole) was what got us going tonight,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “When she started getting after it on defense- diving for loose balls and getting deflections- the rest of the team followed.

“We started to establish a nice tempo and got some good looks out of transition,” Binford said. “I’m really proud of our second half effort.”

Montana State had four players reach double-figure scoring led for the fourth straight game by Rachel Semansky, who dropped in a team-high 19 points.

Semansky connected on seven-of-15 from the floor and chipped in nine rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Also in double-digits were Katie Bussey 14, Sarah Balian 11 and Cole 10.

For the game, the Bobcats shot 46 percent from the field, while holding Idaho State (11-7, 2-3) to 39.7 percent. MSU also held a commanding 50-34 advantage in rebounding, including 23 offensive boards.

Balian recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 12 boards.

ISU was paced in the loss by Chelsea Pickering with a game-best 21 points.

Montana State will host Montana on Saturday at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
