The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office has released details of a fatal accident on Highway 191 south of Bozeman.

Highway 191 has become one of the deadliest stretches of road in the state, and fatal accidents have become more common with the growing population of the area.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office released additional details about the fatal accident on Friday morning.

A fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on April 17, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., on U.S. Highway 191 near mile marker 68, resulting in the death of Jozie Beth Hrenchir, 48, of Gallatin Gateway.

The crash reportedly involved a pickup and a Big Sky Fire Department ambulance. According to GCSO, initial reports indicate that Hrenchir, who was traveling northbound, drifted across the median when it collided with the ambulance, which was traveling southbound.

First responders confirmed that Ms. Hrenchir was deceased upon their arrival. Other individuals involved in the incident were transported to a local hospital with minor or no injuries.

It has not been determined whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the crash. The incident is currently under investigation, and more details will be released when available.

Emergency personnel from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Big Sky Fire Department, and Gallatin Gateway Fire responded to the scene.
