Heads Up, Bozeman Drivers: New Speed Limits on the Interstate
If you live in the Bozeman area, or travel through the area on Interstate 90, there's a new speed limit change that you need to be aware of. The speed limit on the section on I-90 that runs through Bozeman has been reduced, and the change is permanent.
On Thursday, Montana Department of Transportation crews were busy installing new signs along I-90 informing drivers of the speed limit change. We reached out and spoke to an MDT representative, and information about the change is limited at this time. Here's what we know about the change and how it will affect motorists traveling on I-90 in the Bozeman area.
SPEED LIMIT REDUCED ON INTERSTATE 90 THROUGH BOZEMAN
For many years, the speed limit on Interstate 90 through Bozeman has been 75 MPH. Going forward, the speed limit will be 65 MPH. According to MDT, the change is due to a Metropolitan Planning Organization urban boundary adjustment.
The following is a statement from the Montana Department of Transportation regarding the speed limit change.
The speed limit on I-90 in the Bozeman area, both east and west bound from mile markers 303.6 to 313.7, has been reduced to 65 MPH. This change is due to a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) urban boundary adjustment. Signage in the area has been changed to reflect the reduced speed limit.
The speed limit change goes into effect immediately, and work to install the new signs will be completed in the near future. For questions or concerns, please contact the Montana Department of Transportation.
