Today is the birthday of Montana State University or Founder's Day as they refer to it around campus. It was 123 years ago today (Feb 16, 1893) that Montana State University was founded.

Back then it was called Montana State College of Agriculture & Mechanic Arts. There were only three teachers during the first few months, and since there really wasn't a campus yet, the first students (there were 14 and they were all male) attended classes at the high school.

123 years later the school is enjoying record enrollment with over 15,000 students. In honor of today's school anniversary, the lights on Montana Hall will be illuminated all day.
