Are Surging Prices at Montana Restaurants Out of Control?
Going out to eat can be expensive, and recently, we've noticed that menu prices at several local restaurants have been increasing. Living in Montana isn't cheap, but some restaurants seems to be taking advantage of the move to Montana craze.
I work in downtown Bozeman, and go out to lunch on a regular basis. There are a lot of great restaurants to choose from, but lately I've stopped going to a few of the places that I usually do because prices have become so outrageous. I recently read a story about a customer at Five Guys that was appalled after looking at their receipt. They ordered a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a drink, and the total was $24.10 after taxes.

In Montana, we don't have to worry about sales tax, but high prices at restaurants are becoming more and more common. If you want to go out to lunch in Bozeman, paying $24 seems fairly cheap. Personally, I wasn't shocked to see that someone paid $24 for a burger because it's considered normal here in Bozeman. I'm not trying to bash on local restaurants, and I understand that many of them are understaffed, and have to pay employees a higher wage to keep them around.
I travel on occasion, and have noticed that prices in many places are much more reasonable than they are in Bozeman and other places in Montana. Sadly, several restaurants have become far too expensive for the average person. Not many people can afford to spend over $60 on a ribeye steak.
