According to new data released by the Montana Department of Health and Human Services, hospitals in Gallatin County are nearing capacity.

Hospital bed capacity varies by region and indicates severity of strain on hospital beds as COVID-19 cases increase in different areas of the state.

The map below displays the percentage of inpatient beds occupied. Green shading indicates more beds are open, red shading indicates nearing capacity.

Hospitals report data on beds, ICU and ventilator capacity daily, among other indicators of readiness and ability to respond to COVID-19 at their local facility. Data is updated throughout the data and summarized by the end of day. Data is subject to change during the day, as demand changes throughout the day.

Statewide, Montana has 1,701 hospital beds occupied by non-COVID patients, 411 are occupied by patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and 832 are currently available.

Statewide data on ICU beds shows that 132 of the beds are occupied with non-COVID patients, 82 are occupied with patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and 73 are available.

There are currently 40 non-COVID patients using ventilators, 56 patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and 364 ventilators are available statewide.

According to the report, hospitals in Gallatin County are currently at 78% capacity.

Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital in Bozeman currently has 56 hospital beds occupied by non-COVID patients, 14 beds occupied by patients Diagnosed with COIVD-19, and 16 beds available.

There are 20 ICU beds at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. 6 are occupied by non-COVID patients, 4 are occupied by patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and 10 are available. Out of 19 ventilators, 17 are available, and 2 are in use by non-COVID patients.

Bozeman Health Big Sky Medical Center in Big Sky, Montana has 4 hospital beds and none are currently occupied.

While most beds are occupied with non-COVID patients, the hospital is still nearing capacity and could soon become overwhelmed with rising COVID-19 cases in Gallatin County.
