Here’s a fairly simplified/generalized statement: if not for the ranchers, farmers, and fishermen (and the truck drivers that get the goods from place to place), we’d be in real trouble.

What does this have to do with Tom Brokaw? He narrates a new documentary called Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman that will be shown in a special advance-screening tomorrow night (8/15) at the Baxter Theatre. After the film, there will be discussion with Mr. Brokaw, Montana rancher Dusty Crary (who is featured in the film), and Miriam Horn, author of the book Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman, and producer of the film.

Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman was shown at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and talks to people like fourth-generation rancher Dusty Crary, who has been working to protect ranches and federal wilderness for future generations.

The film will air on the Discovery Channel on August 31st.
