It's National Dog Day! Check out Montana's Most Popular Breeds

Montanans love their dogs. There's no question about that. Bozeman has been referred to as the land of Subarus and Black Labs.

Coincidentally, I own a black lab named Galena. I also own a corgi/chihuahua mix named Bella that I adopted from Heart of the Valley. Personally, spending time with my dogs is often the best part of my day. Dogs love you unconditionally and are loyal to a fault. I can't imagine life without wet sloppy dog kisses and cuddles. We seriously don't deserve dogs.

Today, August 26 is National Dog Day. It's a day to honor and celebrate our furry friends and their incomparable contributions to our lives.

According to the National Dog Day website, National Dog Day is celebrated annually and was founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert, Animal Rescue Advocate, Conservationist, Dog Trainer, and Author, Colleen Paige, She's also responsible for founding National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day, National Cat Day, National Wildlife Day, and many other days to bring attention to the plight of animals around the globe and encourage adoption.

According to the American Kennel Club, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds are the most popular dog breed in Montana. All of the breeds mentioned above love to be outdoors, making them a perfect fit for Montana. Labs are not only the most popular dog in Montana, they are also the most popular dog breed in the entire country. As an owner of many labs in my life, I can tell you from personal experience that they are the best. Labs are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for any family.
