I'm a true crime junkie. Not because I am weird or anything like that, but because it intrigues me how authorities collect evidence, conduct interviews, and put together pieces that the average person would typically miss during a tragic situation.

When it comes to true crime podcasts, they are not for the weak minded. You often hear details that were not released to the public and from time to time I find myself almost crying for the families of the victims.

I recently came across a podcast called Up and Vanished. Season 3 of Up and Vanished focuses on a missing girl from right here in Montana, Ashley Loring Heavyrunner.

In season 3, you hear more details about Ashley. A missing indigenous girl from Montana who is still missing today from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The podcast features real interviews with people who have been named as "knowing more than they are saying".

All rumors are investigated including stories of Ashley being, "sold to Mexicans for drugs", to murder.

The host of the podcast, Payne Lindsey, an investigative journalist, goes to all measures to collect facts, whether that means interviewing people that have refused to talk to authorities due to lack of trust or going into towns and digging up details that have been over looked. Payne has the ability to 'get to the bottom' of misinformation and rumors.

Ashley is still missing to this day. Most of this tragic story comes down to the fact that missing and murdered indigenous people do not get the investigations on reservation land, that others get off of the reservation. Perhaps lack of policing can be blamed for part of the reason so many indigenous people, women specifically, go uninvestigated.

If you have any information or details regarding the disappearance of Ashley Loring Heavyrunner, please reach out to your local law enforcement or the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit.
