Dining out in Montana can be costly. I'm reminded of that every time my wife and I travel outside of the state and get the bill. Granted, we live in Bozeman, which seems to run a little high, but all across the state, people pay more when they go out to eat.

Even if you bring your lunch to work, sometimes you want to mix it u. Maybe go for a burger and fries, or a slice or two of pizza. However, a burger and fries can easily cost you 20 bucks. For those on a budget, where's the best bang for your buck?

For my money, you can't beat a slice of Costco pizza or a Costco hot dog and drink. It's filling, tasty, and costs under 5 dollars, however, according to one source, Costco is not the best place for an affordable lunch in Montana.

Cheapism came out with a list of "The Best Cheap Lunches In Every State" and when it comes to Montana the winner was a chain found in a few locations across Big Sky Country.

Located in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Missoula Five On Black gets the nod for the Best Cheap Lunch in Montana. The restaurant specializes in Brazilian Street Food which allows customers to build bowls with items such as:

  • White and Brown Rice
  • Chicken, Beef, Stew, and Tilapia
  • Black Beans, Collard Greens, and Sweet Potatoes

You also have your choice of sauces and different toppings. According to Cheapism, the cost for a bowl is right around 17 bucks, however a small bowl is just around 11 dollars.
