Making The Grade: Does Bozeman Need A Third High School?
As Bozeman continues to expand, the growing pains continue as well.
It's not a secret that while some hope to see the city continue to expand, others aren't happy with the growth, miss the "Old Bozeman" and would like to see things return to yesteryear.

Unfortunately, for those folks, the chances of Bozeman returning to days gone by are slim to none. It seems the rest of the world has discovered our little mountain town and there's no going back now.
As you drive around Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley, you certainly see the signs of "progress" with all of the construction that's taking place. Thousands of apartments, condos, and townhomes are going up all over the Valley and it seems the demands are there to justify the new construction.
What's the biggest problem facing Bozeman?
Great question and depending on who you ask, would depend on the answer you receive, however, one issue that's raising a few eyebrows is the situation with the schools.
For years, Bozeman had one public high school but that changed a few years back with the opening of Gallatin High School. As the city continues to grow and the population increases, school officials are considering changing the high school boundaries.
According to Superintendent Casey Bertram, something needs to be done as the new high school is almost at full capacity.
Is it time to consider a 3rd High School for Bozeman?
While the idea might sound a little far-fetched, the truth of the matter is the city is going to continue to grow. As it does, things like schools and infrastructure will be key points to help adjust to the growth.
The idea might not be popular, especially among those who struggle with the growth of Bozeman, but in the long run, it seems like it would be a good idea to have a plan in place, rather than wait until the problem is too big to ignore.
What do you think? Should city leaders and school officials plan for further growth or should they take a wait-and-see approach? Let us know by sending us a message on our station app.
