How Much Money Do You Need To Be Happy In Montana?
They say that money can't buy happiness, but let's be honest, it can certainly help. If you're not making enough to get by, you're probably not going to be very happy.
Living in Montana isn't cheap, housing alone is ridiculously high which has resulted in many Montanans struggling to make ends meet. In fact, many lifelong Montanans have had to move to other states because of the state's high cost of living.
So how much money do you need to make to be happy in Montana?
Moneyzine put out data on how much money you would need to make to be happy in each state, and as you might guess, certain states required more or less than others. Take the state of New York for example, according to New Yorkers, they would need right around 288,000 a year to be happy. However, in Wyoming, the folks there say they need about 65,000 a year to be happy.
What about Montana? How much do Montanans say they need a year to be happy?
According to fellow Montanans, we require just over 82,000 a year to be happy. Listen, I'm not calling anyone a liar, but depending on where you're living in the state, that amount of money per year isn't enough to buy a house unless you have a very large down payment.
Our neighbors in North Dakota require 65 grand, while folks in South Dakota say 81k is the ideal amount for happiness. The residents of Idaho require a little more with a number of 117,000 a year. Of course, different people have different needs and while someone might live in a way that doesn't require a lot of extra income, others do.
Does 82 grand a year sound right to you? As a resident of the state, would you be happy with that amount of money? If not, how much would you need to be happy? Let us know by sending us a message on our radio station app.
