In my opinion, adversity either breaks you or shapes you into who you were meant to become. Montana has a way of producing some of the toughest people I have ever met or read about. A lot of that comes from the values passed down here and the grit that seems woven into everyday life.
I recently came across a preview of a new documentary from Montana PBS that tells the story of one unforgettable Montana woman.
Jonnie Jonckowski grew up riding horses with big dreams and serious athletic ability. In her early twenties, she was chasing a spot in the Olympic modern pentathlon when a severe back injury ended that path. Instead of stepping away from competition, she chose something even tougher. Professional bull riding.

You can view the trailer of the Jonnie documentary HERE.

At a time when the sport was dominated by men, Jonnie climbed aboard and chased a world title. The ride came with brutal injuries and a personal journey filled with hardship, financial struggles, and painful setbacks. Still, she kept going.
The feature length film Jonnie blends archival footage, present-day interviews, and commentary from rodeo legends including Ty Murray. It gives viewers a raw look at the physical and mental demands of bull riding and the drive it takes to keep showing up.

Where Can You Watch The Sneak Peak Of Jonnie?

The documentary is coming to Bozeman! There will be a special screening at the Emerson's Crawford Theater on March 23rd at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30. It is free and first-come, first served, with a Q and A to follow. Some stories remind you what resilience really looks like. This looks like one of them.
