What Are The Most Legendary Diners and Restaurants In Montana?
Montana is home to some truly legendary diners and restaurants—places that serve up more than just great food, but also history, character, and a whole lot of local charm. From roadside cafés that have been around for generations to hidden gems only the locals know about, we wanted to find out which spots Montanans consider the best of the best.
After asking our listeners, here are the top honorable mentions that stand out as the must-visit eateries in Big Sky Country.

M&M Bar and Cafe, Butte
The M&M Building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, opened in 1890 and unfortunately burned down in 2021. The famous restaurant and cigar shop that occupied the building has since relocated and is thriving in its new location. They plan to rebuild at the original site in the future.
The Western Cafe, Bozeman
One of my personal favorites, the Western Cafe has been around for the better part of a century. It's a Bozeman staple and serves up some of the best biscuits and gravy around.
Stockman Cafe, Rapelje
This charming small-town café is the only place to grab a burger within a 25-mile radius. It faced a tragic shutdown in 2020, but the community came together with donations and volunteers to revitalize it. Thanks to their efforts, the café underwent renovations and successfully reopened back in December 2022.
Storm Castle , Bozeman
A genuine farm-to-table experience, the Storm Castle Cafe has been featured on Guy Fieri's show for its famous Monte Cristo sandwich.
Willow Creek Cafe & Saloon , Willow Creek
BB-Q is always a debated topic, and it has been said that Willow Creek has the best barbecue ribs this side of the Mississippi. You'll need to try them yourself to make that decision!
