Deep Fried And On A Stick: It’s Fair Food Season In Montana
I'm super excited because we are less than a week away from the Big Sky Country State Fair coming to Bozeman. One of the best parts of summer is "Fair Season" and here in Montana, we have plenty to choose from.
This year's Big Sky Country State Fair is going to be bigger and better than ever, with lots of activities for all ages.
I bring this up because today is "National State Fair Food Day". It's a day that we celebrate everything deep-fried. From corn dogs to funnel cakes, we all have our favorites, or do we?
According to a report from National Today, which looked at each state's love affair with fair food, Montana might not be the biggest fan of that deep-fried deliciousness. Montana landed on the list of states that aren't fans of fair food. As someone who grew up in a town that hosted our State Fair, this hurts my artery-clogged heart.
For most folks, the food is a big factor in going. In fact, according to the data, over 80 percent of people said the main reason they go to the Fair is for the food.
While the food might not be the biggest attraction for most Montanans, for those of us that it is, we'll have plenty of options over the next several weeks as Fairs take place all over the state of Montana. Although, with sadness, we report that one of the most popular fair food items, the Viking will not be at this year's State Fair in Great Falls, but they will return next year.
