Surprise! Montana’s Most Popular Pie For Thanksgiving Revealed
For those of you who know me, you know that I'm a big fan of pie.
The truth?
I only like two kinds of pie: hot and cold. I can't think of a time of year that isn't the perfect time for pie; however, with the holidays just around the corner, lots of folks will spend time baking or buying a pie for all of the dinners, parties, and get-togethers that will be taking place across Montana.

My Mother was the master of making pie. I don't know how she did it, and when I asked for the recipe, she told me, "I just throw some things together, and somehow it works." I never really believed that and asked her to try and write it down, but she decided to check out before she could.
What is the most popular holiday pie in Montana?
So, if we were to guess which pie was the most popular in Montana for the holidays, what would you say? Pumpkin is always popular, as is Pecan. However, neither of those is Montana's most popular pie.
Ok, so it's Montana, and Montana is known for both Flathead cherries and huckleberries, so is it one of those two? Actually, no. In fact, Montana's most popular pie isn't sweet, it's savory.
You read that right. According to Maine Lobster Now, which decided to analyze all of the searches on Pinterest, the most searched for holiday pie in Montana is none other than the Chicken Pot Pie. While that might seem a little strange, Montana wasn't the only state that went with this culinary classic, as both Alaska and North Dakota decided to join Big Sky Country.
It seems that savory pies are more popular in the colder states. In fact, take Shepard's Pie for example (one of my favorites). Shepard's Pie is the most searched for pie in both Nebraska and Wyoming.
Oh, and in case you're curious, Pumpkin isn't the most searched for pie recipe this Thanksgiving; that honor is split between two different pies. Pecan....and Blueberry.
