You've likely heard of the potential ban on the social media app TikTok. Montana was the first state to ban the popular app, and a national ban could go into effect very soon.

I'll be honest, I'm not an expert on the app, but I do have it on my phone, and I follow a few folks. Mostly people who share bar-b-q recipes and gross things like pimple poppers.

It's easy to kind of lose track of time and watch video after video, before you know it, a couple of hours have gone by. So while I don't know if it's the devil that so many folks make it out to be, it does seem a bit counterproductive

Once again, I'm not an expert, but from what I've read it seems that we're afraid that through the usage of the app, a certain foreign country can gather our personal information. The funny part of that is the same foreign country is where we buy the majority of our stuff, including our smartphones that hold all of our....you guessed it, personal information.

Not to mention that one of the largest buyers of American soil in the last few years has been that certain foreign country that we're afraid of gathering our personal information. So, they can buy our land, but we can't use their app? Got it.

What do Montanans think of the potential ban on TikTok?

According to some new data, it seems Montanans could care less about the potential ban on TikTok.

The website Apryse looked over Google trends and ranked the concerns of each state. So how concerned are Montanans? The state ranked last. However, it seems that the potential ban of TikTok is a much bigger deal to our neighboring states than here.

The state of Washington took the top spot, coming in 1st. Oregon ranked 4th, Utah 8th, and Colorado 11th. North Dakota, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Idaho are a little more towards the bottom, but still rank a few states ahead of Montana.

What do you think? Are you a TikTok user? Do you agree with the potential ban? Let us know your thoughts by sending us a message on our station app.
